Franklin Residential Rain Garden Project Partners

The Franklin Residential Rain Garden Project is a collaboration between Charles River Watershed Association, the Town of Franklin, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  

Town of Franklin Department of Public Works

The Franklin Department of Public Works (DPW) provides a wide range of services to the residents of Franklin. The six departments (Administration, Engineering, Highway & Grounds, Water, Sewer, and Solid Waste & Recycling) provide services including constructing and maintaining roadways, water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure.  The DPW also reviews the design and construction of public/private development, conducts trash removal and recycling services, and develops and maintains all town owned open space, parks and recreation areas. The Franklin DPW is dedicated to efficiently and effectively maintaining and preserving the infrastructure of the Town in the most cost effective and environmentally conscious way. The department provides excellent customer service and high quality utility services in an effort to preserve the public safety and maintain a high quality of life for all town residents.

Charles River Watershed Association

Charles River Watershed Association has developed the educational materials and rain garden trainings for this project and is responsible for coordinating and implementing the project.

This project is part of Charles River Watershed Association's Blue Cities initiative.  Blue Cities projects mimic nature in the urban environment in order to restore the river's health. 

Charles River Watershed Association’s mission is to use science, advocacy and the law to protect, preserve and enhance the Charles River and its watershed.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

The U.S. EPA has provided funding for this project through its Source Reduction Assistance Grant Program. 

The mission of EPA is to protect human health and the environment. To accomplish this mission the EPA develops and enforces regulations, gives grants, studies environmental issues, sponsors partnerships, teaches people about the environment and publishes information.
